OnePlusは日本時間で明日、マクラーレンとのコラボモデルである「OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition」を発表する予定だが、このモデルのベースモデルは「OnePlus 6T」になることが明らかになっている。
マクラーレンモデルに「OnePlus 6T」が使用されることはこれまでのコラボモデルなどから明らかだが、今回はこの「OnePlus 6T」に搭載されている機能で興味深い話が有る。
OnePlusは「OnePlus 6T」からディスプレイ内指紋認証センサーを搭載しており、OnePlusはこれを「Screen Unlock」と呼んでいる。
「OnePlus 6T」が発売されて以降、いくつかのユーザーは指紋認証でロックを解除するのに時間がかかるという報告が多かった。公式発表イベントでは速さを重視していると伝えていたため、実際に速くないというのはあまり良くない話。
だが、OnePlusが同社フォーラムで明らかにした情報によると、指紋認証の解除時間は使えば使うほど改善されていくという。

OnePlusによると「OnePlus 6T」に搭載されている「Screen Unlock」機能は、ユーザーが使えば使うほど解除時間は速くなるという。
これは、ユーザーが指紋認証でロックを解除する毎に、初期設定で登録した指紋の領域以外の部分も登録しているからだという。
そのためユーザーが指紋認証によるロック解除を使用する毎に「OnePlus 6T」に指紋情報が追加されていき、よりハッキリとした指紋情報になりよりロック解除までの時間が短くなっていくという。
ただ、この場合タッチする指の状況でデータがズレていくのではないかという懸念が生じるが、OnePlusによるとこの問題は解決しているという。
「OnePlus 6T」の指紋認証センサーのアルゴリズムは、ユーザーの指紋がいつものものと異なっているか、指が濡れた状態なのか等、様々な状況を把握することができるという。
フォーラムで確かに使い込むことでロック解除にかかる時間が速くなっていると報告している人もいる。
こういった仕組みになっているようなので、これまで報告されていた「OnePlus 6T」の指紋認証にかかる時間が長いというものは今後減ってくるかもしれない。

Every time a user successfully unlocks the phone with their fingerprint, the sensor also records areas of the finger that weren't registered in the initial fingerprint setup stage. This fingerprint data is then added to the data the phone already holds, making it more complete. So, every time the in-display fingerprint sensor is used, it gathers more data about the user’s fingerprint. This means that over time, the phone will unlock even faster.
The sensor’s algorithms are also able to figure out when the user’s fingerprint is different than usual – if their finger is wet or if they have a cut on it, etc. In these cases, once the phone is successfully unlocked, the algorithms add this new fingerprint data to the existing data to improve unlock speeds under these conditions in the future.
